Eating Out in Goan Restaurants
Like every other part of India, Goa has its own particular cuisine though the chances are that you won't taste it while you're here - what the locals eat resembles very little the rapidly expanding menus in the tourist restaurants. Read more about Goan cuisine.
Whilst you can eat local food at any number of unattractive little restaurants with cramped seating space, grubby decor and really good curries, most travelers will eat out where they'll encounter other foreigners. Eating out in Goa is a social experience after all and many scenes revolve around particular chai shops and restaurants.
In Anjuna, a pricey but quality meal can be had at Xavier's restaurant, deep in the jungle. Otherwise Jackson's on the beach does good south Indian food and the little old Sun n' Sand offers great home made grub. La Trattoria and Casa Nostra are the places to go for Italian.
In Vagator there are any number of options with Zion offering Middle Eastern food and there are clusters of restaurants serving Korean, Moroccan, Chinese and Indian dishes.
In Chapora most people eat at The Yak or the Green Shadow, though the best juices are always to be had at Scarlet's juice and lassi bar.
